As a result of initial research carried out to find a cure for Alzheimer’s disease, HEALTHSENS has been selected by the Neurosciences Foundation as a strategic scientific partner for the consolidation of an innovative therapeutic solution that would stop the progression of the disease.
The solution HEALTHSENS is working on consists of an implantable therapeutic device, highly innovative, that captures by immunological filtering (Immunofilter) the amyloid peptides present in the cerebrospinal fluid, the causal agents of the Alzheimer’s disease.
Project Development Status
As previously mentioned, the project is being developed in conjunction with the Neurosciences Foundation and is in early stages of development. The proof of concept is currently being carried out at the laboratory level. Throughout 2019 and 2020, the first trials using small animal models (mice) are expected to begin, to later move on to larger animals (pigs).
