Healthsens is working on the development of a highly innovative therapeutic implantable device for the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease, based on the immunological capture of amyloid peptides by filtering (Immunofilter) the cerebrospinal fluid.
As a result of the basic research carried out in the Alzheimer’s disease field, Healthsens has been selected by the Neurosciences Foundation as a strategic scientific partner in search of an innovative therapeutic approach to stop the progression of the disease (http://fneurociencias.org/generica.html).
Project development status
The project is being developed in collaboration with the Neurosciences Foundation and is in its early stages of development. The proof of concept is currently being carried out at laboratory level. Throughout the year 2018 and 2019, it is expected that the first testings on small animal models (mice), to later pass on to large animals (pigs).
